What is a fabric expansion joint?
A flexible, layered textile connector that seals a duct while absorbing large multi-directional movement at almost no reaction force — used on low-pressure gas and air ducts such as flue-gas and turbine-exhaust systems.
How hot can it operate?
Depending on the layer build-up, the hot face handles anything from warm ventilation air to gas streams beyond 1000 °C, using PTFE, glass, silicone, aramid and ceramic layers over an insulation bolster.
Fabric or metal expansion joint — which do I need?
Fabric joints excel on low-pressure ducts that need very large movement with negligible load on fans and casings; metal joints suit higher pressures and more erosive duty. TOTFLEX supplies both.
What movements does it absorb?
Axial, lateral and angular movement simultaneously — and it forgives the misalignment common on large site-erected ductwork, all with near-zero spring force.
Can it be replaced during an outage?
Yes. Belt-type elements are designed to be changed in situ during a normal outage, often without cutting steel.

Each joint is supplied with an approval drawing, layer specification, corner and site-splice details, and material data sheets on request.
