Frequently Asked Questions
When is an extra large orifice sprinkler the right choice?
When the system is designed by the density/area method and the required discharge density is high — the K11.2 orifice reaches the design flow at a lower pressure than a K5.6 or K8.0 head.
What does K11.2 (160) mean?
The K factor relates flow to pressure: flow equals K times the square root of pressure. A K11.2 head (160 in metric units) passes roughly twice the water of a K5.6 head at the same pressure.
Why does lower operating pressure matter?
It reduces demand on pumps and mains, compensates for friction losses on long runs, and can allow smaller pipe sizing while still meeting the required density.
Which configurations are available?
Pendent (SP21 standard / SP22 quick response) and upright (SP23 standard / SP24 quick response), all ¾" NPT with 3 mm or 5 mm glass bulbs.
Which temperature ratings can I specify?
Five ratings — 57, 68, 79, 93 and 141 °C — selected by the ambient temperature at the head location.
