How does a concealed sprinkler operate?
In two stages. Heat first releases the flat cover plate at its rated temperature; the sprinkler drops below the ceiling, and its glass bulb then operates at the sprinkler rating to discharge water.
Why are the cover and sprinkler temperatures paired?
The cover must always release before the sprinkler operates, so covers are rated at or below the sprinkler rating — for example a 68 °C cover with a 79 °C or 93 °C sprinkler. Pairs are supplied matched.
Can the cover plate be painted to match the ceiling?
No. Site-applied paint changes the plate’s thermal response and voids the listing. Factory-finished plates should be specified in the required colour instead.
What is the working pressure rating?
Twelve bar (175 psi), with the standard K5.6 (80) orifice and a half-inch NPT thread.
Where are concealed sprinklers typically used?
Suspended-ceiling interiors where appearance matters — hotels, residences, hospitals, dormitories, offices and retail spaces with concealed pipework.
