Frequently Asked Questions
What is a rubber water hose used for?
A rubber water hose transfers fresh, raw, process or waste water for irrigation, construction dewatering, tank filling and wash-down. It is a general industrial and agricultural transfer hose, not certified potable-water tubing or fire hose.
What is the difference between a water discharge hose and a suction hose?
A discharge hose is textile-reinforced to hold internal pressure on the delivery side of a pump. A suction hose has an embedded steel wire helix so it resists vacuum and will not collapse when the pump draws water through it.
What pressure can a TOTFLEX water hose handle?
Water hoses are offered in tiers, commonly around 6, 10 and 16 bar and up to roughly 20 bar for heavy-duty types. TOTFLEX confirms the working pressure for your bore and duty before supply.
Can a water hose be used for suction and delivery on the same pump?
Yes — a wire-helix suction and discharge hose handles both the inlet vacuum and the delivery pressure, which is why it is the usual choice for portable and dewatering pumps.
What temperature range is a rubber water hose rated for?
Standard water hoses operate from about −25 °C to +70 °C. For hot water and steam, use a TOTFLEX steam hose instead.
