What does the braid do on a flexible metal hose?
The stainless wire braid contains the internal pressure, adds mechanical strength and abrasion protection, and limits how much the corrugated core can stretch — which is what gives a braided hose its high pressure rating.
Is a braided hose stronger than a non-braided hose?
Yes. Braid raises the pressure rating and mechanical strength significantly, at the cost of some flexibility. Non-braided hose is more flexible but suited to lower pressures.
Does more braid mean higher pressure?
Generally yes. Adding a second or further braid layer increases the pressure rating; smaller diameters also carry higher pressure than large ones.
What end fittings are available?
Fixed or loose flanges (EN 1092-1, ASME B16.5, DIN), threaded ends, hose nipples, camlock couplings and unions, welded in stainless or carbon steel.
